Sick of being Sick and Big Moments

Sick Stories
This past week was trying to say the least. Last Sunday (day before Memorial Day), Caleb was feeling warm and not his usual, happy go-lucky self. I knew that he was in the teething process, but something was off. Warm and fussy all day..and Monday..and Tuesday..and Wednesday..ahh finally a 101.7 fever Thursday and 102.3 and 102.7..and Friday and diarherra..and Saturday 101.7..and Sunday nothing. Dr. Shori gave him an antibiotic for a possible virus on Tuesday to "wait and see" if he ever would run a true fever or other symptoms...if so, fill and give. We did on Thursday. Lots of holding and "shhh, it's okay" and rockin and kissin' and singin'. So good to be a Momma. And Scott was sick with fever on Wednesday..and Thursday..and Friday..and Saturday..and no fever but crummy on Sunday..and Monday nothing. Crazy! Aiden and I are made of steel...nothing gets us.

Big Moments for us Musers...in the midst of the crummy days and nights last week (of course it is always worse at night when you should be sleeping), my dear little C started standing! He has been pulling up and even holding on with one hand since 8 months, but Friday he started standing on his own for about 5 seconds...Scott counted 8! It wasn't a fluke...he's been doing it every day getting stronger and more balaced every time! Just before 9 months! I have pics of him holding on to objects but will have to get some of him free-style.

The last two Saturdays and Sundays have also been C's first-ever football season games. Unfortunately, A&M has yet to be shown on tv (wonder why) but we've had lots of fun watching the 'Boys', as in America's team. Aiden says, "Go Mary Barber" while my eye is peeled for Romo, Witten and Bennett (have to cheer for Aggies). Scott, of course, is a scout and must watch every NFL team to see what their needs for college players are...and then every college game to help the coaches prepare for their next game and for future NFL draft picks. Should have been an announcer...he can call every call before they do and correct at that. Watch out Kirk Herbstreet! A newby might take your job!

Aiden is starting soccer this Fall with the YMCA. I'm truly excited that he will get to play organized sports, especially since we are the only people on the planet who don't have their 3 years and 5 month old in preschool. We even have "Soccer Mom" shirts! The games will be every Saturday from the 20th until Nov. 8. Call or email for times and location if you want to watch some fun and entertainment! I think he will have tons of fun since he loves to run, run, run and chase and kick a ball! He'll get to play with his buddies Camille, Noah, Hayden, Mason, the Jackson girls (can't for the life of me remember their names) and friends we haven't yet met. Best of all, Aiden's coach will be Mr. Michael. Having boys, I've prayed for the coaches that would build up or tear down my children. Michael will be the most wonderful coach, having two boys of his own, teaching the kids about soccer but doing so with a servant heart and christian attitude. I continue to pray for all of those who do and will touch the lives of my kiddos. Namely me. Please pray for me to be Christ to my kids as I mold their precious lives, as I pray for you daily.

And last but not least...Aiden is FINALLY into pooping on the potty on a regular basis. I say FINALLY because this time last year, when I was pregnant with Caleb and Aiden was 2 yrs and 5 months, we started potty training. Not because I was having a baby but because he wouldn't keep his diaper on..he took it off every chance he got and well, you get the picture with what was inside...on the floor! By December, the tee-tee thing was a piece of cake and totally natural. No accidents! It has taken every bit of almost 9 months to get the poop thing down to an art, but ladies and gentlemen he is finally on board! You might be thinking, "If you would have gone cold turkey...blah, blah, blah." I did and got to clean it up every time, all day, every day. All it took was Mason and Hayden having birthdays and Aiden seeing something he really wanted. Bought it on the spot - forget the price (both weeks), put it on a shelf in the bathroom where he could see it but not touch...pooped 5 days in a row, no accidents, on the POTTY and got the Pirate ship playdough play set....currently pooping 7 days in a row, no accidents, on the POTTY and is earning a "Chick Hicks" car from Cars. Yes, I tried praise. Yes, I tried potty parties. Yes, I tried stickers...and calling anyone who would listen. This is working so I'll stick with it. For those skeptics...I'd love to know your secrets when you potty train BOYS!

Way to go Aiden and Caleb, what big boys you both are! Hope everyone is feeling better at your house, it always stinks to have sick boys - whether big or little. Can't wait to see y'all Sunday!
