Pencil Sharpening

Friday, February 8, 2008, Scott, Caleb and I took a drive down to Cook's Children's Hospital for a little procedure after dropping Aiden off at a friend's house for a playdate. Yes, our little Caleb had his circumcision at 8 weeks old. You might be asking "Why wasn't it already done?" Scott and I have discovered that our pediatrician and partners may not be into preforming the all familiar task and gave us the run around and a myriad of what sounded to us like excuses. So after about maybe a 5 minute procedure with Dr. W Glaze Vaughn (I just love his name - sounds exotic), we have a plastibell. We are truly thankful for Dr. Vaughn and hope his skills are perfect. We are thankful for specialty hospital like Cook's Children's. We are thankful and praying for Caleb to heal perfectly.

The best part about the day was finding a place to nurse. You would think a pediatric hospital might have a designated place, but no. I went searching during Caleb's procedure and convinced a nurse to let me into the PNICU unit. So I went to meet back up with Scott and he already Caleb. Wow! Upon entering the Progressive Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (PNICU), I realized how truly thankful I was that both Aiden and Caleb were healthy babies at birth with no life-threatening complications. When I sat in the lactation room (so totally relaxing with super soft chairs and a pure ambiance with the music - all that was missing was a masseour), all I could do was enjoy my precious baby Caleb and the time I was spending with him. Please take a moment to praise God for your healthy baby or babies and pray for the babies in PNICU to grow healthy and strong enough to go home with the Mommies people who love them.
