Fast-forward to Tuesday, June 14, 2011 - Confirmation day! The four of us went to my fabulous OB and confirmed there was a little peanut inside my tummy! As soon as the boys saw the sonogram, Mr. OB said, "There's a baby in your Mommy's tummy!" The room erupted with shouts of joy from them! He then proceeded to let us listen to the heartbeat and patiently explained all of the little parts of our new little baby. Starting that day, prayers from our boys around the dinner table were, "Dear God, please let us have a baby brother." followed by "Dear God, please let us have a baby sister." Thankfully those prayers have shifted to "Dear God, please help our baby to be healthy and I would like to have a baby sister, but I will be happy if it is a boy."

Two days after the hubby's 34th birthday, the four of us went to Dr. Fabulous' office for our 12 week appointment today. I am currently 12 weeks and everything looks wonderful with our little peanut! I forgot how quickly the fetus grows and that is the first thing both of the boys picked up on. How much bigger our baby looked today, as compared to our last visit (8 weeks, 4 days)! Today peanut was kicking his legs and moving his hands and arms a bit. Mostly kicking his legs. Dr. Wonderful told the boys he was practicing karate. Smart kid since his brothers are constantly wrestling each other. I guess it feels the need to practice in order to defend itself. No worries baby. Mommy will take good care of you! He also told the boys that the baby is in a big swimming pool (the black color on the sono screen) and is just swimming around in there. They thought that was great and got a big kick out of it! Later the question came, "does the baby hold its breath and swim around until he is born?" Hmmm! I just said the baby doesn't breathe on its own until it is born. That was good enough. A later laughed and said, "The baby is standing on its head, kicking its legs and swimming." A truly talented little one.
Side note: I tend to lean more towards the masculine gender as opposed to the female gender, only because it is currently unknown, not because I think it is a boy.
12 week sono
(Peanut is head down with its mouth slightly open. In the middle you see its hand extended although the arm isn't showing. The legs are straight up and kicking all around. A says it is doing gymnastics!)

On the other side:
Mr. C is all out of sorts. After our baby appointment we went to our awesome pediatrician to get meds for an ear infection. Yep, swimmer's ear in the left side was confirmed along with a positive strep test. Yippee! This totally explains why a certain little someone has been out of sorts lately. Antibiotics here we come!!
