This past weekend was amazing! We spent a very rare family day at home. Not rare in being together, but rare in being home. Friday was the typical Scott working from home day, the kids and I had a fabulous day at playgroup with our church friends at the park and ending the evening with the family mowing the yard. It is quite the family affair. In the Spring and Fall Caleb hangs out in the wagon, while I pull weeds and tend to the flowers. During the hot summer months, I cook dinner and bring drinks to the boys. Boys? Yes, A "mows" the yard and "blows" the clippings with his yard tools. Too cute! My little man..just like Dad.
Saturday morning was a family event to Hayden's birthday party at Let's Jump. We just LOVE this place, as it is an indoor play area full of blow up bounce houses, slides, etc. Fun was had by all and it was just one of those Saturdays when you think, "All is right with the world. I have a fabulous family, fantastic friends and nothing could be better." Nothing warms my heart more than to see Scott playing with A and the other kids on the bouncy mazes and such, helping little girls steady themselves or helping the younger kids climb to the top. Scott even took C for a ride on the slide. We couldn't tell if he loved it or hated it but, none the less, went for another ride.
The afternoon was spent running a few errands, C sleeping, Scott & A playing Wii while I went to get pizza for lunch and us eating together. All the while I had no clue what was in store for me. On Friday on his way home from work, Scott called my best friend, Sherri, to see if she would keep the boys and we could go out. They worked out all of the arrangements for a secret date! I hadn't prompted Scott for this at all. He just wanted me to himself to spend time with me! Makes me smile just typing this. :)
Our date was perfect! It wasn't where we went or what we did. Scott let me pick everything...dinner and entertainment afterwards. It was really about being together in that "young love" type state of being. I truly did feel like I did when we were just first dating. Warm fuzzies, didn't care what we were doing as long as we were together. Felt like a Queen! I picked the fun atmosphere of Snuffers where we laughed, reminisced and flirted, walked around, splurged for ice cream and listened to a jazz band in the park. Total relaxation with the one you love out and about.
We have been married 8 years, as of August 12, and they keep getting sweeter and sweeter! I can't wait to see what the next 8 years will bring.
